My Journey From a complete Beginner to a successful Affiliate Marketer.

Hi there and welcome! If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re curious (or maybe even a little overwhelmed) about affiliate marketing.

I get it, because that’s exactly how I started. My name is Paul. In this ‘about me’ page, you will find about – my journey from beginner to affiliate marketer, why this website (newtoaffiliatemarketing.com) exists, my values, beyond the laptop, and my special inviation to join with me in this journey.

My Journey: From Beginner to Affiliate Marketer

When I joined Wealthy Affiliate back in 2018, I was a complete beginner. I had zero background in online business, no tech skills, and no real understanding of how affiliate marketing worked. Honestly, I felt like a kindergartner stepping into a brand-new world filled with confusing terms and endless possibilities.

What I did have was curiosity, passion, and a deep belief that learning these digital skills could change my future for me and for my family.

At that time, I was a self-sponsored full-time Christian missionary, working as a volunteer teacher during the day just to make ends meet and supporting my family.

Evenings and weekends were dedicated to church activities. Life was challenging, and I longed for something sustainable. Something that could grow into a long-term source of income and security.

Then I discovered Wealthy Affiliate. It wasn’t an instant miracle, but a leap of faith. I invested in the training, committed to learning step by step and took actions along, and gradually unlocked the skills I needed: building websites, creating keyword-rich content, mastering SEO and PPC strategies, driving traffic, and finally generating real income online.

Today, I manage websites that generate consistent income, run my own affiliate marketing projects, and earn commissions through Wealthy Affiliate’s referral program, Amazon affiliate program, and more. My journey hasn’t been without struggles, but it stands as proof that starting from zero doesn’t mean staying there.

If I can do it, you can too. My mission now is to help beginners take that first step, avoid the mistakes I made, and build an online business that lasts, whether for financial freedom, personal growth, or future security. This has motivated me to create this website.

  1. Hi Paul,

Thanks for sharing your story — it’s really inspiring to read about how you went from zero experience to running multiple affiliate sites. I especially liked that you highlighted both the struggles and the small wins along the way — it makes your journey feel so real and relatable. As a fellow website creator (I run a blog about crafting and building things from scratch), I can totally relate to the feeling of being a “kindergartner stepping into a new world.”

I was wondering: when you first started writing keyword-rich content, what was one of your early SEO mistakes — and how did you correct it?

    1. Hi Hanna,

Thank you so much for your kind words!

I’m really glad my story resonated with you. When I first started writing keyword-rich content, one of my biggest SEO mistakes was stuffing too many keywords into my articles, thinking that would make them rank better. But actually, it just made my writing sound awkward and didn’t help with rankings.

What helped me correct it was focusing more on writing naturally for readers, while including keywords in a balanced way, especially in the title, headings, and first few paragraphs. Over time, I learned that helpful, well-structured content wins every time.

What about you, any early lessons you learned while building your blog?

      Paul.
